Should you race here?
A Metro station underneath the hall, in a city where the food is the reason to stay an extra day.
Reasons to
- The station is under the building, on two Metro lines and the high-speed railway.
- A room near the venue starts around NT$1,626, and an ordinary meal is about NT$200.
- The hall has a 12-metre ceiling, which keeps a big indoor race from feeling closed in.
- Bus 1843 runs direct from the airport to the venue's station for NT$110.
Reasons not to
- March is the wet month here: 157mm across about fifteen days.
- Humidity sits at 80%, which is felt indoors as well as outside.
- The venue is at the far eastern end of the city, so the sights are a Metro ride away.
- No district-to-venue journey time is published by any source, so the times here are read off the map.

Taipei has moved building, moved season, and grown from a single day into the best part of a week. Where you race, and when, changes the day more than most people expect.
Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, your race is in this building
The city's main exhibition hall, at the eastern end of Taipei, with a Metro station of the same name underneath it.
Known for. Taiwan's big industrial trade shows, including the computer and machine tool fairs that fill the whole complex.
The building. Opened in 2008 to take the trade fairs that had outgrown the old world trade centre in Xinyi, and extended with a second building since.
Race day and start times
The thing that shapes your travel is not the race date. It is when you find out what time you are racing on it.
Hyrox links individual start times on the event page a few days before the race. A provisional schedule goes up earlier.
What to bring
At the Nangang Exhibition Center, and only on the day you compete. Registration opens 90 minutes before the first wave of your division.
You do not bring a chip. You collect the ankle strap at check-in, wear it for the race, and hand it back after the line.
What your wristband does not cover
You are given a wristband at check-in. Hyrox has not published what the Taipei one admits you to. Check-in is open only on the day you race, so do not assume it covers a second day.
Getting there on the morning
The Blue or Brown line to Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, which is underneath the building. The Metro starts at six, covering the early waves.
What you need to book
Before you book
The listing runs 12 to 14 March, so confirm your division's day before booking the last night.
If Hyrox cancels or postpones the event, its terms do not cover your flights or your room. Check the cancellation deadline on both before you pay for either.
Flying into the city
Songshan is inside the city and handles short routes to Japan, Korea and the mainland.

Most people fly in for one race and see nothing. The day before is dead time if you do not plan it.

Getting to Taipei
Taoyuan airport connects by Airport MRT to Taipei Main, then the Blue line east to the venue.
Bus 1843 from the airport
A direct coach to the Nangang Exhibition Center station for NT$110, taking about eighty minutes. It needs no changes, which counts when you are carrying a bag.
The Airport MRT and the Blue line
The Airport MRT runs to Taipei Main, then the Blue line goes east to the venue's own station. Faster than the bus when the traffic is bad.
Entry requirements
Quick tip
Bus 1843 runs direct to the Nangang Exhibition Center station for NT$110 and takes about eighty minutes, which beats two changes with luggage.
Getting to the venue
Nangang is the venue's own district at the eastern end of the Blue line. Xinyi and Da'an are the places most people want, fifteen to twenty-five minutes west.
The station is called Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center and it is underneath the building, on both the Blue and Brown lines. A one-day pass is NT$150 against NT$30 a journey from Taipei Main, so it pays for itself on the fifth trip.
Where to stay
The venue is in Nangang at the eastern end of the Blue line. Xinyi and Da'an are the districts most people want, fifteen to twenty-five minutes west.
Open in Google Maps · Get directions
1. Hotels in Nangang
The venue's own district, built around the fair grounds and the high-speed station. Rooms start near NT$1,626 and the walk is short.
2. Hotels in Xinyi
The modern centre, with the tower, the malls and most of the nightlife. Fifteen minutes back on the Blue line.
3. Hotels in Da'an
Where the good eating is, including the beef noodle and dumpling places worth the trip. Leafier and more residential than Xinyi.
The machine tool show clears Nangang on 6 March, so rooms near the venue should ease before the race. A concert at the Music Center on the 13th and 14th works the other way.
Neighbourhoods worth the commute
Taipei runs west from the venue along the Blue line, and the districts get older and denser as you go.
| Area | To the venue | Why | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nangang | 5 to 15 min on foot | The eastern end of the city, built around the exhibition halls, the high-speed station and the software park. Quiet and functional. | |
| Xinyi | about 15 min by Metro | Taipei 101, the department stores and the bars. The modern centre, and the obvious base if you want a city rather than a suburb. | |
| Songshan | about 10 min by Metro | Between Nangang and the centre, with Raohe night market and the city airport. Closer than Xinyi and cheaper. | |
| Da'an | about 25 min by Metro | Leafy, residential and full of the restaurants people fly in for. The best eating in the city is here. | |
| Zhongzheng | about 25 min by Metro | Around Taipei Main Station, with the rail connections and the older government quarter. Convenient and plain. |
Eating before and after
The night before a race is not the night for the best meal of your trip, which is harder discipline than it sounds in a city this good at food.
Around the exhibition centre
Nangang has a mall above the station and places feeding the office parks nearby, so plain rice and noodles are a few minutes away. No source names one with a price.
Songshan
Ten minutes west on the Blue line, with ordinary kitchens away from the night market crowds. Closer than the centre and open late.
Taipei is a food city before it is anything else, and the two dishes below are what people fly in for.
Xiaolongbao at Din Tai Fung
Soup dumplings folded to eighteen pleats, steamed to order and eaten with ginger and vinegar. The Xinyi Road branch is the original.
Beef noodles at Yong Kang
A dark braised broth with shin, noodles and pickled greens, in the street that gave the dish its reputation. Heavy enough to belong after your race.
Race day supplies
The practical failures that spoil a race weekend are almost never the training. They are forgetting the gels, or carrying a kit bag around a city for six hours.
Pack list
- A waterproof. It rains on about fifteen days in March, 157mm in total.
- Light clothing for 23°C (73°F) at 80% humidity, which feels warmer than the number.
- An EasyCard, or buy one at the station. It covers the Metro, the buses and the convenience stores.
Quick tips
- Buy a Metro one-day pass at NT$150 instead of singles at NT$30.
- The machine tool show leaves your hall on 6 March, so Nangang rooms should ease before you arrive.
Convenience stores are on nearly every corner in Taipei and open all night, which solves most supply problems. An EasyCard works on the Metro and in the shops.
The last race in Taipei
Hyrox raced at the Nangang complex in April 2025, but no source confirms the hall or the layout from that edition, so there is little local form to pass on.
What happened
The last edition, in short.
- The race is in Hall 1, and the Metro station sits underneath the complex.
- Two Metro lines serve the station, the Blue and the Brown, so most of the city has a direct route.
What it means for you
How your race differs from that one.
- A machine tool show fills Halls 1 and 2 until 6 March, six days before you race.
- March is the wet month: 157mm across about fifteen days.
What else is on that weekend
A busy fortnight at this end of the city, with one show in your own hall just before you get there.
| What | When | Where | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| TIMTOS machine tool show | 2 to 6 March | Nangang Exhibition Center, Halls 1 and 2 | In your hall, finishing six days before the race. Nangang hotels will be emptying as you arrive rather than filling. |
| A concert at the Music Center | 13 and 14 March | Taipei Music Center, Nangang | Two nights across the race weekend, at the same end of town. The Blue line will be busier in the evenings. |
| A regional robotics competition | 11 to 14 March | Heping Basketball Gymnasium | Across the race weekend but on the other side of the city, so it affects rooms more than transport. |
| The night markets | Every evening | Across the city | Raohe and Shilin run every night of the weekend, and Raohe is a short hop west on the Blue line. |
What to see
Written for someone racing tomorrow, not a tourist with a week. Each entry says how far it is, because some of these are worth a longer trip and some are not.
Taipei 101
A 508-metre tower shaped like a stalk of bamboo, with an observatory near the top and the damper ball you can walk around. It held the height record for six years.
The National Palace Museum
The imperial collection that left the mainland in 1948, bronzes and jade and painting across several thousand years. Too large for one visit, so pick two galleries.
Raohe night market
Six hundred metres of food stalls beside a temple, a short hop west on the Blue line. Pepper buns, oyster omelette and whatever has the longest queue.
Elephant Mountain
A short steep staircase up a hill behind Xinyi, with Taipei 101 framed from the top. Twenty minutes of climbing for the view everyone photographs.
What to do
The riverside path
The Keelung River runs a kilometre north of the venue with a continuous cycle and running path along it. Flat, separated from traffic and the obvious shake-out.
Beitou hot springs
A volcanic valley at the north end of the Red line, with public and private baths in the hillside. The thing to do with legs that have raced.
Jiufen for an afternoon
A hillside town of tea houses and lanterns above the north-east coast, an hour out by bus. Crowded, and worth it on a clear day.
A bowl of beef noodles
Taipei's own dish, a dark broth with shin and hand-pulled noodles. Every neighbourhood has a place that takes it seriously.
