HYROX LYON
- Everything below describes this building first, and the other for comparison
The venue at a glance
- Address
- Bd de l'Europe, Chassieu, Lyon
- Parking
- Sirha, another event at the same site, publishes visitor parking at EUR 24 (USD 26) a day. That is not a Hyrox rate.
- From the nearest hotel
- 6 min by road from Hotels in Chassieu
- Altitude
- 196m above sea level, low enough to make no difference to your race.
- Bag drop
- Hyrox has not published the bag drop arrangement for Lyon.
- Supporters
- Hyrox says additional spectators need a spectator ticket. No price was published in the sources checked.
Lyon has moved building, moved season, and grown from a single day into the best part of a week. Where you race, and when, changes the day more than most people expect.
Eurexpo Lyon, your race is in this building
A large exhibition site in Chassieu, on the eastern edge of the metropolitan area, with a tram stop named after it.
Known for. Trade fairs, including Sirha, the catering and hospitality show, and the Geek Touch and Japan Touch Haru weekend.
The building. France.fr says Lyon's first Hyrox was held at Eurexpo in May 2026. The exact dates of that race were not verified.
Race day and start times
The thing that shapes your travel is not the race date. It is when you find out what time you are racing on it.
Hyrox has not published a start schedule for Lyon. It will appear on the official event page, where ticket sales were still listed as opening soon.
What to bring
On site, and only on the day you compete. Registration opens 90 minutes before the first start wave of your division, and nobody can check in on your behalf.
Hyrox has not published the timing arrangement for Lyon, so do not assume you collect or return anything at a particular desk.
What your wristband does not cover
You are given a wristband at check-in. Hyrox says additional spectators need a spectator ticket, but has not published whether the athlete wristband admits one. To enter the hall before your check-in window, Hyrox directs you to the Spectators Desk with your ticket and identification.
Getting there on the morning
Metro D to Grange Blanche, then tram T5 to the Eurexpo Lyon stop, about 30 minutes from the centre. The walk from the stop to check-in is not published.
What you need to book
Before you book
Arrive at least one full day before you race. The race runs across five days, 12 to 16 May, and your wave could be early on the first morning.
If Hyrox cancels or postpones the event, its terms do not cover your flights or your room. Check the cancellation deadline on both before you pay for either.
Flying into the city
No taxi or rideshare fare between the airport and the venue was published in the sources checked for this guide.

Getting to Lyon
Lyon-Saint Exupery (LYS) is the airport for this race. Sirha publishes a public transport route to the same site of about 35 minutes.
From Lyon-Saint Exupery
Sirha publishes a journey of about 35 minutes to the same site: Rhonexpress to Vaulx-en-Velin La Soie, then bus N186. It says the TCL urban fare covers the whole journey, but does not state the amount. The N186 was a Sirha shuttle, so check what Hyrox runs.
Tram T5 from the centre
Take metro D to Grange Blanche, then tram T5 to the stop called Eurexpo Lyon. The walk from that stop to athlete check-in cannot be given, because the hall is unpublished.
Entry requirements
Quick tip
That route is Rhonexpress to Vaulx-en-Velin La Soie, then bus N186, which was a Sirha event shuttle. Check whether Hyrox runs a shuttle before you plan around it.
Getting to the venue
No hotel rate near the venue was reachable. Chassieu is the venue's own commune, 6 minutes by road away. Momondo reports about EUR 150 (USD 173) a night near the city centre.
Sirha, a trade fair at the same site, publishes the route from central Lyon as metro D to Grange Blanche, then tram T5 to the Eurexpo Lyon stop, about 30 minutes. Hyrox has not published the hall, so the walk from that stop to check-in cannot be stated. A 24-hour TCL ticket is EUR 6.90 (USD 8) against EUR 2.10 (USD 2.45) for a single journey.
Where to stay
The venue sits in Chassieu, east of the city. No hotel rate near it was reachable, and the hall has not been published, so no walk from a hotel to a race entrance can be stated.

1. Hotels in Chassieu
The closest beds to the venue, 2 km away. No average nightly rate for this area was reachable, so compare prices yourself.
2. Hotels in La Part-Dieu
The closest city district to the venue by road, and the one with the main rail station. Business hotels, so weekend rates are often softer.
3. Hotels in Presqu'île
The centre, averaging about EUR 150 (USD 173) a night. Walking distance to the Musee des Beaux-Arts and most of the bouchons.
Nuits sonores fills parts of the city from 5 to 9 May and ends before the race. Interstellar runs at the Auditorium on 13 to 15 May, inside the race window.
Neighbourhoods worth the commute
These are the city districts away from Chassieu, with the driving time from the venue measured by road.
| Area | To the venue | Why | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monplaisir | 14 min by road, 5.8 km | The eighth arrondissement, the closest city district to the venue by road. Residential, with ordinary restaurants rather than tourist ones. | |
| La Part-Dieu | 18 min by road, 7.2 km | The third arrondissement, built around the main station and the business towers. Convenient for arriving by train and for the tram east. | |
| Presqu'île | 19 min by road, 7.8 km | The peninsula between the Rhone and the Saone, holding the Musee des Beaux-Arts, the Marche Saint-Antoine and several bouchons. | |
| Les Brotteaux | 19 min by road, 8 km | The sixth arrondissement, next to the Parc de la Tete d'Or. Quiet streets and a park big enough for an easy loop. | |
| Vieux Lyon | 22 min by road, 9.4 km | The fifth arrondissement, the old quarter on the right bank of the Saone. Narrow streets, and more bouchons per street than anywhere else in the city. |
Eating before and after
The night before a race is not the night for the best meal of your trip, which is harder discipline than it sounds in a city this good at food.
An ordinary restaurant in Monplaisir
No restaurant near the venue was verified for this guide, because the hall has not been published. Monplaisir is the closest district we measured and has plain neighbourhood places rather than tourist ones.
Around the station at La Part-Dieu
The district around the main station keeps longer hours than the old quarter and serves simple food. Useful if you arrive by train the evening before you race.
Lyon's traditional restaurants are called bouchons, and they serve regional dishes at a set menu price.
Le Bouchon des Cordeliers
A bouchon in the second arrondissement carrying the city's Bouchons Lyonnais quality label. The adult set menu is one price, so you know the bill before you sit down.
Bouchon Les Lyonnais
A labelled bouchon in the old quarter, with the adult menu priced in a band rather than at one figure. The cooking is rich, which is the point of a bouchon.
Race day supplies
The practical failures that spoil a race weekend are almost never the training. They are forgetting the gels, or carrying a kit bag around a city for six hours.
Pack list
- A light waterproof. May brings 88.2 mm of rain across about 9.3 days at Lyon-Bron.
- Something warm for the evening. Nights fall to 10°C (50°F) while days reach 21°C (69°F).
- A physical copy of your identification. Hyrox says photographs and digital copies are not accepted at check-in.
Quick tips
- A 24-hour TCL ticket is EUR 6.90 (USD 8) and a single is EUR 2.10 (USD 2.45), so it pays from the fourth journey.
- If you drive, the EUR 24 (USD 26) daily parking figure comes from another event at the site, not from Hyrox.
No shop, cafe or restaurant at the venue address was verified for this guide, and the hall is unpublished. Buy your food, drink and any gels in the city before you take the tram out to Chassieu.
The last race in Lyon
Hyrox calls the 2027 event the second edition in Lyon, so there is only one previous race to learn from.
What happened
The last edition, in short.
- France.fr says Lyon's first Hyrox was held at Eurexpo in May 2026. The exact dates were not verified.
- The hall used in 2026 was not published in the sources checked, so there is no previous hall number to rely on.
What it means for you
How your race differs from that one.
- Five days this time, 12 to 16 May, so check which day your division races.
- Hyrox has not published the hall or the entrance. Read the athlete guide before you travel out to Chassieu.
What else is on that weekend
What the Lyon listings show for the race dates, 12 to 16 May 2027.
| What | When | Where | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nuits sonores, an electronic music festival | 5 to 9 May 2027 | Les Grandes Locos and La Sucriere | It finishes on 9 May, three days before the first race day, so it does not overlap the race. |
| Interstellar, live with orchestra | 13 to 15 May 2027 | Auditorium de Lyon, Presqu'île | Three evenings inside the race window, 19 minutes by road from the venue. Book a seat before you travel if you want one. |
| Grigory Sokolov, piano recital | 17 May 2027 | Auditorium de Lyon, Presqu'île | The day after the last race day, which suits anyone staying an extra night. |
| Geek Touch and Japan Touch Haru | 22 and 23 May 2027 | Eurexpo Lyon, Chassieu | The next event found at the same exhibition site, a week after the race rather than during it. |
What to see
Written for someone racing tomorrow, not a tourist with a week. Each entry says how far it is, because some of these are worth a longer trip and some are not.
Musee des Beaux-Arts de Lyon
An art museum in a former palace, with collections running from antiquity to contemporary work. It closes on Tuesdays, so the race days of 12 to 16 May are all open days.
Musee des Confluences
A museum of humanity, societies and the natural world, in a building at the point where the Rhone and the Saone meet. The exhibitions are wide rather than deep, so you can do an hour and leave.
Vieux Lyon
The old quarter on the right bank of the Saone, in the fifth arrondissement. It is where most of the labelled bouchons sit, so it doubles as the place you eat after you race.
The Rhone and Saone riverbanks
The tourist office points visitors at the two riverbanks as the easy way to see the city on foot. There is no entry, no queue and no fixed route.
What to do
Parc de la Tete d'Or
A large park with a lake, reached by metro A to Massena and an eight-minute walk. The lake loop is the obvious shake-out, and the tourist office does not publish a distance for it.
Marche Saint-Antoine
A food and flower market along the Saone quays, on quai Saint-Antoine and quai des Celestins. It is the simplest place to buy fruit and bread for race morning.
Ile Barbe
A small island in the Saone north of the centre, reached on foot along the river or by bus 40 from Bellecour. The tourist listings give 45 to 60 minutes on foot from Place des Terreaux, or 20 to 30 minutes by bus.
A practice run out to the venue
Ride the route the day before so race morning holds no surprises. It is metro D to Grange Blanche, then tram T5 to the Eurexpo Lyon stop, about 30 minutes from the centre.
