Should you race here?
A venue four blocks from the Atlantic, in the driest and most even month Florida gets.
Reasons to
- Route 150 runs direct from the airport to the island for USD 2.25.
- The venue is in the middle of South Beach, so most of the district is a walk.
- 63mm of rain across about six days, before the wet season begins.
- The ocean is around 25°C (77°F) and four blocks away, which is a recovery option.
Reasons not to
- A room averages about USD 384 a night, the highest figure on this calendar.
- Overnight lows stay at 19°C (66°F), so there is no cool part of the day.
- Miami-Dade's own pages disagree on the single fare.
- Everything on the mainland needs a causeway crossing and twenty minutes.

Miami Beach has moved building, moved season, and grown from a single day into the best part of a week. Where you race, and when, changes the day more than most people expect.
Miami Beach Convention Center, your race is in this building
A convention centre in the middle of South Beach, four blocks from the Atlantic, rebuilt in 2018 with a park and a garage attached.
Known for. Art Basel Miami Beach every December, and the boat show.
The building. Opened in 1957 and rebuilt between 2015 and 2018, when the city put a park and a ballroom on the site around it.
Race day and start times
The thing that shapes your travel is not the race date. It is when you find out what time you are racing on it.
Hyrox links individual start times on the event page a few days before the race. A provisional schedule goes up earlier.
What to bring
At the Miami Beach Convention Center, and only on the day you compete. Registration opens 90 minutes before the first wave of your division.
You do not bring a chip. You collect the ankle strap at check-in, wear it for the race, and hand it back after the line.
What your wristband does not cover
You are given a wristband at check-in. Hyrox has not published what the Miami Beach one admits you to. Check-in is open only on the day you race, so do not assume it covers a second day.
Getting there on the morning
A walk from most of South Beach. The Miami-Dade buses stop at 17th Street beside the venue.
What you need to book
Before you book
The listing runs 26 to 28 March, so confirm your division's day before booking the last night.
If Hyrox cancels or postpones the event, its terms do not cover your flights or your room. Check the cancellation deadline on both before you pay for either.
Flying into the city
Fort Lauderdale is about forty-five minutes north and often cheaper on domestic routes.

Getting to Miami Beach
Route 150 runs direct from Miami airport to the beach in forty minutes to an hour, for two dollars twenty-five.
Route 150 from the airport
The Miami Beach Airport Express runs direct to the island for two dollars twenty-five, taking forty minutes to an hour. No changes.
Walking, once you are here
South Beach is small and flat and the venue is in the middle of it, so most hotels in the district are a walk rather than a journey.
Entry requirements
Quick tip
There is no train to Miami Beach, so the express bus is the sensible route rather than the budget one.
Getting to the venue
South Beach is the venue's own district and everything in it is walkable. Mid Beach and North Beach are quieter and cheaper up the island.
Route 150, the Miami Beach Airport Express, runs direct from the airport to the beach for USD 2.25 and takes forty minutes to an hour. Miami-Dade's own pages disagree on the single fare, so the lower published figure is used here; a one-day pass is USD 5.65.
Where to stay
The venue sits in the middle of South Beach, four blocks from the Atlantic. The island runs north from there.

1. Hotels in South Beach
The art deco district around the venue, walkable end to end. The liveliest and the dearest, averaging near USD 384 island-wide.
2. Hotels in Mid Beach
The stretch between South and North Beach, quieter and generally cheaper, with the big resort hotels on the ocean side.
3. Hotels in North Beach
Residential and low-rise, with mid-century buildings and the bandshell. The cheapest of the three and the furthest out.
The island's March festivals finish before the race weekend, but Miami Beach prices high all season regardless. Mid Beach and North Beach are worth pricing against South Beach.
Neighbourhoods worth the commute
Miami Beach is a barrier island, and everything runs north and south along it from the venue.
| Area | To the venue | Why | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| South Beach | 5 to 20 min on foot | The art deco district, Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive, with the venue in the middle of it. Walkable and loud. | |
| Mid Beach | about 10 min by bus | The resort stretch up Collins Avenue, calmer than South Beach with a boardwalk along the sand. | |
| North Beach | about 20 min by bus | Low-rise, residential and the quietest part of the island, with mid-century architecture and the bandshell. | |
| Wynwood | about 20 min by car | On the mainland, covered in murals and full of galleries and breweries. The arts district and worth the causeway. | |
| Coconut Grove | about 30 min by car | Leafy and relaxed on Biscayne Bay, south of downtown. The furthest of these and the calmest. |
Eating before and after
The night before a race is not the night for the best meal of your trip, which is harder discipline than it sounds in a city this good at food.
Playa Cafe
A plain South Beach cafe where a Cuban sandwich is under eight dollars. Cheap, fast and close enough for the night before.
Around Lincoln Road
Five minutes from the hall, with pasta and grilled chicken among the tourist places. Pick something plain and sit outside.
Miami eats Cuban, and the beach eats stone crab when it is in season, which in late March it just about still is.
Stone crab at Joe's
A South of Fifth institution since 1913, serving claws by size with mustard sauce. The season closes in May, so late March still works.
A Cuban sandwich
Roast pork, ham, Swiss, pickles and mustard, pressed flat. Havana 1957 in South Beach does one for about fifteen dollars.
Race day supplies
The practical failures that spoil a race weekend are almost never the training. They are forgetting the gels, or carrying a kit bag around a city for six hours.
Pack list
- Hot-weather kit. It is 26°C (78°F) by day and 19°C (66°F) overnight, so nothing cools down.
- Strong sun protection. The Florida sun in late March is already severe.
- Little waterproofing. Only 63mm falls across about six days, before the wet season.
Quick tips
- A one-day pass is USD 5.65 against USD 2.25 a journey.
- Take route 150 from the airport. There is no train to the island.
South Beach has pharmacies and supermarkets within a few minutes of the venue, open late and on Sundays.
The last race in Miami Beach
Hyrox raced in Miami Beach in April 2025. No source confirms the hall or the layout from that edition, so there is little local form to pass on.
What happened
The last edition, in short.
- Route 150 runs direct from Miami airport to the beach for USD 2.25.
- The venue is four blocks from the Atlantic, in the middle of South Beach.
What it means for you
How your race differs from that one.
- A Miami Beach room averages about USD 384 a night, the highest on this calendar.
- Overnight lows stay at 19°C (66°F), so there is no cool part of the day.
What else is on that weekend
A busy March on the island, with the festivals landing earlier in the month.
| What | When | Where | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Winter Party Festival | 5 to 8 March | South Beach venues and 12th Street Beach | Nearly three weeks before the race. Over well before you arrive. |
| GroundUP Music Festival | 12 to 14 March | Miami Beach Bandshell | Mid-month, at North Beach. Also finished before the race weekend. |
| Nothing confirmed on the race days | 26 to 28 March | Across Miami Beach | No festival or convention was confirmed for the race dates themselves. |
| The beach | All weekend | Four blocks east of the venue | Open, free and warm, with the ocean at 25°C (77°F) by late March. |
What to see
Written for someone racing tomorrow, not a tourist with a week. Each entry says how far it is, because some of these are worth a longer trip and some are not.
The Art Deco Historic District
Eight hundred buildings from the 1920s and 30s along Ocean Drive and Collins, the largest concentration anywhere. Free to walk and best in the morning light.
Wynwood Walls
A former warehouse district on the mainland turned into an open-air mural gallery, with galleries and breweries around it.
The Bass
A small contemporary art museum in a 1930s building a few blocks from the venue, with a sharp programme and a quiet garden.
The Everglades
Sawgrass, alligators and a horizon with nothing in it, an hour west of the city. The thing to do if you add a day on.
What to do
The beachwalk
A paved path running the length of the island behind the dunes, flat and beside the ocean the whole way. It is the obvious shake-out, done early.
Lincoln Road
A pedestrian street of shops and cafes a few minutes from the hall, designed by Morris Lapidus in the 1960s. It is busy, and good for killing an hour.
Swim in the Atlantic
The ocean is around 25°C (77°F) by late March and the beach is four blocks from the hall. The simplest recovery available on this calendar.
South Pointe Park
The southern tip of the island, where the cruise ships pass close enough to see the decks. A good evening walk after racing.
