Buenos Aires has moved building, moved season, and grown from a single day into the best part of a week. Where you race, and when, changes the day more than most people expect.
La Rural, your race is in this building
An exhibition ground in Palermo. Hyrox publishes this address and no venue name, and the address is La Rural's.
Known for. Agricultural shows, trade fairs and congresses. La Rural's own listing for the 2026 Hyrox race labelled it Open Air.
The building. La Rural's pages record a Buenos Aires Hyrox there on 13 June 2026. The 2027 listing calls that a historic first edition.
Race day and start times
The thing that shapes your travel is not the race date. It is when you find out what time you are racing on it.
No schedule and no individual start times are published for this race. Ticket sales had not opened when this guide was researched.
What to bring
Hyrox has not published where check-in happens, when it opens, or what to bring. Check the official event page before you travel.
Nothing is published about timing for Buenos Aires. Do not buy anything in advance, and check the event page for what is issued.
What your wristband does not cover
Hyrox has not published what a Buenos Aires wristband admits you to, or whether it covers a second day. Do not assume it covers a spectator.
Getting there on the morning
No nearest station or stop is published, because the hall is unnamed. City buses need a SUBE card, at ARS 853 to 1,094 (USD 0.85 to 1.09) a ride.
What you need to book
Before you book
Book a flight that lands at least one full day before 20 March, because the first waves could be early on the Saturday morning.
If Hyrox cancels or postpones the event, its terms do not cover your flights or your room. Check the cancellation deadline on both before you pay for either.
Flying into the city
El Palomar is listed by the city as 18 km out, though its IATA code could not be verified in the research.

Compare hotels near the venueSomething to do with the rest of the weekend
Most people fly in for one race and see nothing. The day before is dead time if you do not plan it.

Entry requirements
Quick tip
No airport fare was reachable from any source, so book the transfer with wherever you are staying before you land. Aeroparque (AEP) is inside the city, in Palermo, and the city tourism authority puts it within 25 minutes of the main hotels. It warns that airport public buses get crowded and have little luggage space.
Getting to the venue
Recoleta is 7 minutes from the venue address by road and Palermo is 10. A city centre room averages US$77 a night, and no rate near the venue is published.
Hyrox has not named the venue, so no station, walking time or parking price can be given here. City buses need a registered SUBE card, and a single ride is ARS 853 to 1,094 (USD 0.85 to 1.09). No day ticket and no taxi fare was reachable, so budget for individual journeys.
Where to stay
The published address is in Palermo. These three districts are within ten minutes of it by road, and all are places people stay anyway.
Open in Google Maps · Get directions
1. Hotels in Recoleta
Quiet, residential and full of museums. Closest of the three to the venue address by driving time.
2. Hotels in Palermo
Parks, bars and small shops, and the district the venue address sits in. Suits anyone bringing someone who is not racing.
3. Hotels in Puerto Madero
Modern blocks along the water, with the Costanera Sur reserve at the far end for a flat shake-out walk.
A city centre room averages US$77 a night. No rate near the venue was published, so book something you can cancel until Hyrox confirms the hall.
Neighbourhoods worth the commute
Every district here is within ten minutes of the venue address by road. These are driving times, not transit times.
| Area | To the venue | Why | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Recoleta | 7 min by road, 2.5 km | Elegant and residential, with the Recoleta Cemetery and the free Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. | |
| Palermo | 10 min by road, 4.6 km | The large leafy district that holds the venue address, Aeroparque and the MALBA museum. | |
| Retiro | 8 min by road, 2.4 km | The station district, with the Mitre line trains to Tigre and long-distance buses. | |
| San Telmo | 6 min by road, 1.9 km | Cobbled streets, antiques and tango, with the Mercado de San Telmo in the middle of it. | |
| Puerto Madero | 6 min by road, 2.4 km | Converted dock warehouses and a flat riverside promenade that runs to the Costanera Sur reserve. |
Eating before and after
The night before a race is not the night for the best meal of your trip, which is harder discipline than it sounds in a city this good at food.
Recoleta, the night before
No restaurant near the venue could be named, because the hall is unpublished. Recoleta is the closest district by road with ordinary restaurants.
Microcentro, the night before
The central business district has plain restaurants that open early. An ordinary meal in the city runs about US$20.
Buenos Aires is known for the parrilla, the grill, and a full parrillada is a large meal of grilled meat.
Parrilla Peña
A long-standing grill restaurant in the San Nicolás part of the centre, where a meal costs about ARS 60,000 a head.
El Desnivel
A San Telmo grill where a full parrillada for four runs about ARS 120,000, so roughly ARS 30,000 each.
Race day supplies
The practical failures that spoil a race weekend are almost never the training. They are forgetting the gels, or carrying a kit bag around a city for six hours.
Pack list
- Electrolytes and a refillable bottle. March averages 26.8°C (80.2°F) by day at 72% humidity.
- A light rain jacket. March brings 140.1 mm of rain across 8.8 days in an average year.
- Sun cover for queueing. The 2026 edition was listed as Open Air and the 2027 setup is not published.
Quick tips
- Get a SUBE card on arrival. Buses need one, and a ride is ARS 853 to 1,094 (USD 0.85 to 1.09).
- No transport day ticket is published, so count on paying for each journey separately.
No shops near the venue could be listed, because Hyrox has not named the hall. Buy drinks, food and tape in your own district the day before.
The last race in Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires is new to the Hyrox calendar, so there is one previous edition and little form to pass on.
What happened
The last edition, in short.
- La Rural's own event page records a Hyrox race at Av. Sarmiento 2704 on 13 June 2026.
- That listing labelled the event Open Air, so the 2026 race was not described as an indoor hall race.
What it means for you
How your race differs from that one.
- The 2027 listing gives the same address, Av. Sarmiento 2704, and still names no hall.
- March is warmer and wetter than June, at 26.8°C (80.2°F) by day and 140.1 mm of rain across the month.
What else is on that weekend
The big March fixtures in Buenos Aires fall either side of race weekend.
| What | When | Where | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lollapalooza Argentina | 12 to 14 March 2027 | Hipódromo de San Isidro | The weekend before you race. Flights and rooms around those three days will be tighter than race weekend. |
| A St Patrick's Day parade | Listed 17 to 20 March, unconfirmed | Across the city | One events calendar lists it ending on the day before you race. No organiser or city page confirmed it, so treat it as unconfirmed. |
| U2 at Estadio River Plate | 23 and 25 March 2027 | Estadio River Plate, Núñez | Both dates fall after race weekend. A third show on 27 March is reported and was not verified. |
| The Easter week holidays | 24 to 26 March 2027 | Nationwide | The Day of Remembrance on 24 March and Good Friday on 26 March are public holidays. Both are after you race. |
What to see
Written for someone racing tomorrow, not a tourist with a week. Each entry says how far it is, because some of these are worth a longer trip and some are not.
Teatro Colón
An opera house whose foyers and main hall are shown on a guided tour. The general tour takes about 50 minutes.
MALBA
A museum of modern and contemporary Latin American art, in the same district as the venue address. Allow about two hours.
Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes
The national art museum, holding Argentine and international collections. Entry costs nothing, so it works as a short stop rather than a day.
Recoleta Cemetery
A walled cemetery of mausoleums and tombs in the middle of the city. No admission price is published, so check at the gate.
What to do
The Costanera Sur ecological reserve
Flat paths along the river, reached on foot from the Puerto Madero waterfront. The best easy walk for the day before you race.
Mercado de San Telmo
A covered market of food counters and antique stalls. Entry is free and you pay only for what you buy.
The Palermo parks
Palermo is the large green district that holds the venue address. Its parks are the simplest place to loosen your legs.
The train to Tigre
The Mitre line runs from Retiro station to the delta town of Tigre, about 50 minutes each way. No fare was published.
