Should you race here?
One of the two cheapest weekends on this calendar, in a quiet planned capital with a real city next door.
Reasons to
- A room near the venue starts around INR 1,377 and a meal about INR 300.
- A bus stop eight minutes from the halls, on five routes.
- Only 19.5mm of rain across November, on about a day and a half.
- Ahmedabad, Adalaj and Akshardham are all inside an hour.
Reasons not to
- Hyrox has not published the hall, and there are thirteen on the campus.
- No bus fare, no day ticket and no airport fare is published anywhere.
- Sector 17 is a government quarter, so the evenings are dead.
- A startup summit opens next door on the last race day.

What racing here is like
Your race is here
Helipad Exhibition Centre
November 26th, 2026
INDUSIND BANK HYROX GUJARAT
- Everything below describes this building first, and the other for comparison
The venue at a glance
- Address
- Sector 17, Gandhinagar, Gujarat
- Parking
- Yes, at the venue. No daily rate is published.
- From the nearest hotel
- 10 to 15 min from Hotels in Sector 16
- Altitude
- 78m above sea level, low enough to make no difference to your race.
- Bag drop
- Hyrox has not published the bag drop arrangement for Gandhinagar.
- Supporters
- Hyrox sells spectator tickets separately. Your race wristband admits you only on your own race day.
Gandhinagar has moved building, moved season, and grown from a single day into the best part of a week. Where you race, and when, changes the day more than most people expect.
Helipad Exhibition Centre, your race is in this building
Thirteen numbered halls across a 45-acre campus in the government sector of Gujarat's planned capital, next to the Mahatma Mandir convention centre.
Known for. State trade fairs and the summits Gujarat hosts, with 71,876 square metres of indoor exhibition floor.
The building. Built on the old helipad ground beside the state offices, and now the larger half of the capital's exhibition pairing.
Race day and start times
The thing that shapes your travel is not the race date. It is when you find out what time you are racing on it.
Hyrox links individual start times on the event page a few days before the race. The schedule up now is marked provisional.
What to bring
At Helipad Exhibition Centre, and only on the day you compete. Registration opens 90 minutes before the first wave of your division, and you need a physical ID rather than a photograph of one.
You do not bring a chip. You collect the ankle strap at check-in, wear it for the race, and hand it back after the line.
What your wristband does not cover
You are given a wristband at check-in. Hyrox says it admits you only on your own race day, and a spectator ticket is needed for the others.
Getting there on the morning
A bus to the Sector 16/17 stop, eight minutes from the halls, or a car from whichever sector you are staying in.
What you need to book
Before you book
The listing runs 26 to 28 November, so confirm your division's day before booking the last night.
If Hyrox cancels or postpones the event, its terms do not cover your flights or your room. Check the cancellation deadline on both before you pay for either.
Flying into the city
There is no metro to the airport and no direct coach to the venue, so plan on a road transfer.

Most people fly in for one race and see nothing. The day before is dead time if you do not plan it.

Flying out the same evening? This is the difference between a good afternoon and hauling a kit bag around a city.

Getting to Gandhinagar
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International in Ahmedabad is 23 kilometres south of the venue and the only sensible way in.
The Sector 16/17 bus stop
Eight minutes from the halls, served by routes 102, 4, 6, 3 and 5. No single fare or day ticket is published, so carry small notes.
From the airport
Ahmedabad's airport is 23 kilometres south. There is no metro to it and no direct coach to the venue, so arrange a car through your hotel.
Entry requirements
Quick tip
No airport fare or journey time was reachable from any source, so book the transfer with wherever you are staying before you land.
Getting to the venue
Sector 17 is the venue's own sector and the government quarter. Sector 11 and Sector 16 are the nearest places with rooms, both inside two kilometres.
The Sector 16/17 stop is about eight minutes from the halls and five bus routes serve it. No fare and no day ticket is published for either the city buses or the airport road, so budget for an auto-rickshaw or an app cab instead.
Where to stay
The venue sits in Sector 17 among the state offices, which is not where the hotels are. The nearest rooms are in the neighbouring sectors, all inside two kilometres.

1. Hotels in Sector 16
The closest rooms to the halls, starting around INR 1,377. Walkable in the cool of the morning, though the sectors are large and the pavements are not continuous.
2. Hotels in Sector 11
A central planned sector with green space and a cluster of hotels and guesthouses, a short drive from the venue.
3. Hotels in GIFT City
The towers on the Sabarmati, with the full-service hotels. Twenty minutes by car according to the hotel there, and the better choice if someone is travelling with you.
A startup summit opens next door on the last race day and rooms in the sectors are few, so book early rather than close to the weekend.
Neighbourhoods worth the commute
Gandhinagar is a grid of numbered sectors, and the venue sits in the government one.
| Area | To the venue | Why | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sector 17 | at the venue | The state offices and Mahatma Mandir, which means no hotels and nothing open in the evening. | |
| Sector 16 | 10 to 15 min on foot | The nearest sector with rooms, from 840 metres out, and the only one you would call walkable. | |
| Sector 11 | about 5 min by car | A central sector with gardens and a cluster of small hotels, a short ride from the halls. | |
| GIFT City | about 20 min by car | The finance towers by the river, with the full-service hotels and the only real restaurant choice nearby. | |
| Ahmedabad | about 45 min by car | The real city of the pair, with the old quarter, the food and the museums. A long transfer on race morning. |
Eating before and after
The night before a race is not the night for the best meal of your trip, which is harder discipline than it sounds in a city this good at food.
Your hotel in Sector 16
The hotels nearest the venue have restaurants doing plain rice, dal and rotli, which is as safe a night-before meal as this region offers.
GIFT City
Twenty minutes by car and the only place nearby with a real choice of restaurants, including plain international food if you want nothing new.
No restaurant near the venue could be verified, so these are the Gujarati staples, on the menu everywhere in both cities.
A Gujarati thali
A tray of small dishes with rotli, dal, rice and vegetables, refilled until you stop them. The regional plate, vegetarian, and far too much food the night before a race.
Dhokla and thepla
Steamed, slightly sour chickpea cake and a soft spiced flatbread, both eaten here at breakfast. Light, plain and the best of the local food for race week.
Race day supplies
The practical failures that spoil a race weekend are almost never the training. They are forgetting the gels, or carrying a kit bag around a city for six hours.
Pack list
- A light layer for the 18°C (64°F) morning, because the afternoon reaches 31°C (87°F).
- Almost no waterproofing. Only 19.5mm falls across about a day and a half.
- Electrolytes for a hall that may not be air conditioned, in a month that still hits 31°C (87°F).
Quick tips
- Carry small notes. No bus fare is published and auto-rickshaws want cash.
- Check a live air reading in race week. November runs well above the annual average here.
Sector 21 has the market and Sector 16 has pharmacies, both about ten minutes away. Bring any supplement or medication you rely on rather than expecting to find the same brand.
The last race in Gandhinagar
No previous Gandhinagar edition could be confirmed from any published source, so there is no local form to pass on.
What happened
The last edition, in short.
- The Sector 16/17 bus stop is about eight minutes' walk from the venue.
- Ahmedabad's airport is the one to fly into, 23 kilometres south.
What it means for you
How your race differs from that one.
- Hyrox has not published which hall the race is in, and there are thirteen of them.
- A startup summit opens at Mahatma Mandir next door on 28 November, the last race day.
What else is on that weekend
A quiet capital, with one summit arriving as the race ends.
| What | When | Where | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| FRO Expo and the Bharat Startup Summit | 28 to 29 November | Mahatma Mandir, next door | Opens on the last race day in the building beside yours. Expect traffic and full rooms on the Saturday night. |
| Hyfit Games fitness festival | 15 November | Helipad Exhibition Centre | Eleven days before, in the same building. It will be packed away by the time you arrive. |
| Guru Nanak Jayanti | 24 November | Statewide | A Gujarat public holiday two days before the race, so government offices around the venue will be shut. |
| Diwali and the Gujarati new year | 8 to 11 November | Statewide | Two weeks earlier. Flights and trains across India are hard to get around those dates, so book outside them. |
What to see
Written for someone racing tomorrow, not a tourist with a week. Each entry says how far it is, because some of these are worth a longer trip and some are not.
Swaminarayan Akshardham
The carved stone temple that Gandhinagar is known for, set in gardens that are free to walk. The exhibitions inside cost sixty rupees and are the part most people remember.
Adalaj Stepwell
A five-storey well cut down into the ground in 1498, carved all the way, and cool at the bottom when it is 31°C (87°F) above. Fifteen minutes towards Ahmedabad.
Ahmedabad's old city
A UNESCO-listed walled quarter of carved wooden houses and narrow lanes, 23 kilometres south. The reason to give this trip an extra day.
Indroda Nature Park
A park on the river with wildlife, botanical gardens and a set of dinosaur fossils and casts. Odder and better than it sounds. Thirty rupees in.
What to do
Walk by the river at Sarita Udyan
A riverside garden in Sector 9 with lawns and walking paths, free to enter, and the easiest place to loosen the legs without finding a gym.
Swim at the Gandhinagar Club
The club pool opens 06:00 to 10:30 and 16:00 to 21:00 except Mondays, at four hundred and thirteen rupees. Whether non-members get in is not published, so ring first.
Sector 21 market
The capital's market sector, which is where you go for anything you forgot. Free to wander and busy in the evening.
The sector grid itself
Gandhinagar was drawn on paper in the 1960s as thirty numbered sectors, and walking one is a flat, shaded, strangely empty way to spend an hour.
